Seasoned firewood
Seasoned firewood, delivered locally.
Hardwood logs from our own tree work, split and seasoned at the yard until they're dry enough to burn cleanly and hot. Delivered by the load around Lutterworth, Hinckley and the surrounding villages.
Local wood, not imported
Every tree we take down produces timber, and the good hardwood doesn’t go to waste — it comes back to the yard, gets cut and split, and is seasoned until it’s ready to burn. When you buy a load, you’re buying local timber that would otherwise be a by-product, not kiln-dried logs shipped halfway across Europe.
It’s mostly mixed native hardwood — oak, ash, beech, sycamore and the like — which burns hotter and longer than softwood and is what you want in a wood burner or an open fire.
Properly seasoned means it actually burns
Freshly cut “green” wood can be half water by weight. Try to burn it and most of the heat goes into boiling that water off — you get a smoky, hissing, disappointing fire, a glassed-up stove door and a tarred-up chimney. Seasoned wood has been dried until the moisture is low enough to light easily and burn cleanly, giving you heat instead of steam.

Order early — genuinely
This isn’t a sales line. Properly seasoned wood takes months to dry, and by the first cold snap in autumn everyone wants logs at once. Order in late summer and you’ll have well-seasoned wood put by; leave it until November and the best of it is already spoken for.
Questions
Asked most often
How do I know the wood is dry enough?
Properly seasoned wood is lighter than green wood, the ends are cracked and checked, and the bark comes away easily. The reliable test is a moisture meter — you want 20% or below. Wood at that level lights easily and burns without hissing or heavy smoke.
When should I order?
Late summer or early autumn is ideal — you get the pick of the well-seasoned wood before the winter rush. Leave it until the cold sets in and supply gets tight.
